NG names 3 new shipbuilding sector VPs

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 31 (UPI) -- U.S. company Northrop Grumman Monday announced three new vice presidents in its shipbuilding sector.

They were: John J. Mazach as appointed sector vice president of business development; Eric Womble as sector vice president of advanced capabilities group; and Daniel L. Arczynski as sector vice president of strategic planning and development. The company said the new appointments would be effective immediately. Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding combines the company's Ship Systems and Newport News shipbuilding operations.

"I am very pleased to have such a talented group of people on my leadership team," said Mike Petters, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. "They are true professionals who demonstrate a commitment to success and a high level of dedication to the future of the nation's shipbuilding industry."

Mazach will run Northrop Grumman's shipbuilding marketing, customer and government relations initiatives. He used to run business development for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps programs at Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector. He had a 32-year U.S. career as a pilot and retired as a vice admiral commanding, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. He also ran Strategy and Policy for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

Womble will run technology development, research and development, advanced programs, advanced concepts and market/competitive analysis, Northrop Grumman said. Previously, he was sector vice president of advanced capabilities group for Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems sector. He had served as the military legislative assistant for Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., and as Lott's national security adviser.

Arczynski will run Northrop Grumman's Shipbuilding sector's strategic planning organization with an emphasis on business growth. He had previously been vice president of strategic planning and development at Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector.
