BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Nominations for the Golden Globes, considered a strong indicator for the race for the Academy Awards, were announced Tuesday.

Meryl Streep will be competing against herself in the best actress in a comedy or musical, as she was nominated for both "It's Complicated" and "Julie and Julia." Sandra Bullock was also nominated twice, although in different categories for her work in "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal."

Nominated the Best Motion Picture -- Drama category are: "Avatar," "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire" and "Up in the Air." In the category for Best Motion Picture -- Comedy or Musical are: "(500) Days of Summer," "The Hangover," "It's Complicated," "Julie and Julia" and "Nine."

Among television programs, "Big Love," "Dexter," "House," "Mad Men" and "True Blood" will compete for the Golden Globe for Best Television Series -- Drama and "30 Rock," "Entourage," "Glee," "Modern Family" and "The Office" will vie for the award for Best Television Series -- Comedy or Musical.

The Golden Globe winners, determined by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be announced Jan. 17, just before the nominating process closes for the Oscars.

The Academy Awards nominations are to be announced Feb. 2, including the newly expanded Best Picture field of 10 films, with the Oscars handed out March 7.
