DEAKIN WEST, Australia, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- The Australian subsidiary of Rheinmetall Man Military Vehicles has awarded major sub-contracts related to production of logistics trucks.

"Each of the successful companies has demonstrated expertise and many years of experience supplying premium products for the Australian military or the Australian civilian market," Rheinmetall Man Military Vehicles Australia said.

The Varley Group, headquartered in the city of Newcastle, is to supply more than 550 stores and maintenance modules for the medium and heavy logistics trucks being produced by Rheinmetall.

Sydney-based RPC Technologies will provide a specialist interface unit to transport, launch and recover the current and future heavy floating bridge systems of the Australian Defense Force. It will also supply the bridges.

Sea Box International of Canberra will design, develop and manage the production supply over 2,100 heavy flat racks for RMMVA's high-mobility military vehicle fleet, while Brisbane-based Holmwood Highgate will design and manufacture a total of 276 integrated tankers, bulk water and fuel modules.

RMMVA obtained the contract in 2013 to produce more than 2,500 vehicles and nearly 3,000 vehicle modules under the government's Land 121 Phase 3B program.

The first Land 121 Phase 3B production vehicles will be delivered in 2016.
