WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. State Department has approved the possible sale of CH-47F Chinook helicopters to the government of Saudi Arabia.
The kingdom's foreign military sale request includes 48 of the helicopters in addition to 112 T55-GA-714A engines, 116 Embedded Global Positioning Systems, 58 AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems, and 48 M240H 7.62mm machine guns with spare parts. If approved by Congress, the sale is estimated to cost $3.51 billion.
