Lockheed Martin gets $20 million Italian C-130J contract modification

Deal covers Italian Aeronautica Militare C-130J trainer systems.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin Rotary and Missions Systems has received a $20 million contract modification for work on Italian C-130J Super Hercules aircraft trainer systems.

The firm-fixed-price modification to the previously awarded contract covers the upgrade to the Aeronautica Militare C-130J operational flight trainer and cockpit avionics part task trainer systems.

Work will be performed in Georgia and has an expected completion date of July 2019.

The U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting entity.

Lockheed delivered the first C-130H to the Italian air force in 1972 and the first C-130J to the service in 2000.

Italy now has 21 of the aircraft in its fleet.
