Sikorksy gets $158 million Black Hawk contract modification

Option exercised for 14 UH-60 U.S. Army helicopters.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has been awarded a $158 million U.S. Army contract modification for Black Hawk helicopters.

The modification exercises an option for 14 UH-60 helicopters produced by the Lockheed Martin subsidiary.

Work will be performed in Connecticut and has an estimated completion date of June 2017.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.

The Black Hawk is used for a variety of Army missions, including air assault, air cavalry and aeromedical evacuation.

It can carry 11 combat-loaded air assault troops and is capable of moving a 105mm howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition.
