Scholz group sells tank dismantling company

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has acquired a tank dismantling company from the Scholz Group.

MUNICH, Germany, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Germany's Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, a leading manufacturer of armored vehicles, reports it has acquired Battle Tank Dismantling GmbH Koch, based in Rockensussra, Germany.

Battle Tank Dismantling, formerly owned by the Scholz Group, which is focused on steel and scrap recycling, runs Europe's only NATO-certified tank dismantling plant. It has so far destroyed and disposed of some 16,000 military vehicles, including more than 1,800 main battle tanks and about 6,000 other wheeled and tracked armored vehicles.
