Harris Corporation announces new business structure

Harris Corporation, which recently acquired Exelis, has announced a new business structure for better utilization of talents and to increase efficiency.

MELBOURNE, Fla., July 6 (UPI) -- Harris Corporation, the communications firm that recently acquired Exelis, has announced a new business structure for combining talents and improving efficiency.

"We combined Harris' and Exelis' top talent and technology to create four market-focused segments aligned with Harris' strategic growth platforms," said William M. Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Our new structure will help us improve our competitive position, increase efficiency, and capture synergies, while we continue to bring innovative and affordable solutions to our customers."

As of the start of Fiscal Year 2016. Harris has four market-focused segments.

The segments are: Communication Systems, led by Chris Young; Critical Networks, led by Carl D'Alessandro; Electronic Systems, led by Ed Zoiss; Space and Intelligence Systems, led by Bill Gattlewill.

Communication Systems will provide markets with tactical and airborne radios, night vision technology, and defense and public safety networks. Critical Networks is for managed services that support air traffic management, energy and maritime communications, and ground network operation and sustainment, as well as high-value IT and engineering services.

Electronic Systems will offer a portfolio of solutions in electronic warfare, avionics, wireless technology, C4I, undersea systems and aerostructures. Space and Intelligence Systems provides earth observation, weather, geo-spatial, space protection, and intelligence solutions from advanced sensors and payloads. It also offers ground processing and information analytics.

Harris said it has named Sheldon Fox as Senior Vice President, Integration and Engineering for the company. Fox was previously the president of Harris' Government Communications Systems segmen.
