Navy satellite communications systems getting support services

On-orbit communications capabilities of the U.S. Navy will continue to receive support services from SBG Technology Solutions under a multi-year contract from the Navy Program Executive Office Space Systems.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has tapped SBG Technology Solutions for support of on-orbit communications capabilities for open-ocean, littoral, and naval land operations.

The contract, a multi-year vehicle, was issued by the Navy Program Executive Office Space Systems, or PEO SS, under its PMW 146 program for communications satellites.

The monetary value of the award was not disclosed.

Under the award, continued support services from SBG Technology are in the areas of operational functionality, maintenance and management. Included are operational maintenance, logistics, training, development, system testing and evaluation, production support and integration of Navy, joint military, foreign military and commercial communications systems, encrypted secure networks, and communication links.

"We are thrilled to continue our work with PEO Space Systems and PMW 146," said Vic Blanco, SBG's director of contracts. "We will use our longstanding experience with the Navy and PEO SS to execute these mission-critical communications functions for the Navy."
