Renault manufactures 1,000th Acmat light tactical vehicle

Renault Trucks Defense has announced the production of its 1,000th Acmat light tactical vehicle since 2009.

SAINT-PRIEST , France, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Renault Trucks Defense of France is celebrating the manufacture of its 1,000th Acmat light tactical vehicle, which is operated by more than 20 countries.

The ALTV is a high speed multi-role vehicle. It has a 190 horsepower engine, a wheel base that can carry as much as 1.4 tons, and an unrefueled range of 870 miles.

"The ALTV is a true commercial success ...," the company said. "The 1,000th vehicle has just come off the production line and will be delivered before the end of the year."

The vehicle comes in a wide range of variants -- single and double cabin pick-up, Torpedo patrol vehicle, command car, checkpoint and station wagon and is used for missions such as troop transportation, border surveillance, reconnaissance, patrol, ambulance duties, firefighting and cargo transport.

The Acmat ALTV has been in production since 2009.

Renault Trucks Defense has been a subsidiary of Volvo since 2001.
