"This contract is an excellent example of our continued commitment to work collaboratively with the Royal Navy to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations at our Portsmouth business," said John Hudson, managing director, Maritime, at BAE Systems.

BAE Systems has delivered services to the base, home of the Royal Navy fleet, for the past 12 years.

Service support for ships under the contract includes technical services, maintenance, repair and upgrades to ensure ships are available to meet their operational requirements.

The Royal Navy is further developing the base, improving and adding infrastructure, upgrading and improving facilities and services. BAE Systems said the contract will provide the basis for integration of services to support ships and will provide a vehicle to support future classes of ships, including Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.
