MILLBROOK, England, June 25 (UPI) -- A pre-production prototype specialist vehicle was unveiled this week at a military exhibition in Britain by General Dynamics UK.

The tracked, medium weight Scout specialist vehicle, debuted was a reconnaissance support variant in base platform design.

"Today (Tuesday) marks an important day in the Scout Specialist Vehicle program." Said Kevin Connell, vice president at General Dynamics UK - Land Systems.

The Protected Mobility Recce Support, or PMRS, variant features acoustic detectors, a laser warning system, a local situational awareness system, an electronic counter-measure system, a route-marking system, an advanced electronic architecture and a high-performance power pack.

General Dynamics UK recently completed the Base Platform Critical Design Review for the PMRS variant. An overarching CDR for the PMRS variant will take place in the months ahead, establishing the final design of the variant for future production.

The vehicle was presented at DVD 2014, an event sponsored by Britain's army and the Ministry of Defense Equipment and Support Land Equipment organization.
