Selex said modernization will bring the systems up current NATO standards, improve the cost in operating them and improve procedural and maintenance times. The life cycle of the radar systems will also be extended, the company said.

The contract is worth about $16.2 million. A timeframe for conducting the upgrades, however, was not disclosed.

RAT 31 DL radar system, which feature electronic counter-measure capabilities, comes in both fixed and mobile configurations. It has a range of about 310 miles.

The company said more than 50 RAT 31 DL systems are currently in use around the world. Eight of them are operated by NATO member states.
