Boeing opens research and technology center in Brazil

Boeing opened this week a new research and technology center for aerospace in Brazil, the sixth international center established by the company.

SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, June 5 (UPI) -- A research and technology center for aerospace technologies has been opened by Boeing in Brazil, its sixth such center outside the United States.

The Boeing Research & Technology-Brazil center is located in the São José dos CamposTechnology Park and will focus on development of sustainable aviation bio-fuel, air traffic management, remote sensing, advanced metals and bio-materials.

"As part of Boeing's long-term commitment to Brazil, Boeing Research & Technology-Brazil will focus on collaborative R&D that will benefit Brazilian companies and the people of Brazil, while supporting Boeing's technology development goals," said Donna Hrinak, president of Boeing Brazil.

Added Paul Pasquier, Boeing Research & Technology vice president of Global Technology: "BR&T-Brazil will connect research activity that we have underway throughout the world. Brazil has some of the most innovative technologists in the world, and this center will prove as a catalyst for enabling global collaboration that will mutually benefit Brazil and Boeing."

Ongoing projects of the center will initially be conducted and coordinated with the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the University of Sao Paulo, Embraer and Brazil's Department of Aerospace Science and Technology and the National Institute for Space Research, Boeing said.

Boeing's other technology centers outside the United States are located in Europe, Australia, India, and China.
