GAITHERSBURG, Md., May 8 (UPI) -- The latest cyber-security standards have been integrated into an open software platform for automated sharing between organizations of threat indicators.
The integration was performed by Lockheed Martin in partnership with the Open Information Security Foundation, a non-profit foundation building a new generation intrusion detection and intrusion prevention system, or IDS/IPS, to counter threats to cyber security.
Lockheed said its engineers integrated the latest cyber-threat communications standards into OISF's Suricata Engine. Suricata is an open source IDS/IPS, and the integration enhanced Suricata's capabilities to use cross-organization data sharing to communicate cyber-threat information to its cyber-sensor.
"Lockheed Martin is a key contributor to evolving and integrating emerging TAXII, STIX, and CybOX standards which are being widely adopted across the industry," said Rohan Amin, director of Cyber and Data Analytics, Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions. "In fact, the STIX format already leverages the Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain to enhance the context of specific threat indicators.
