LINKOPING, Sweden, March 13 (UPI) -- Saab of Sweden has announced the opening of an office in the capital of Botswana as it continues its expansion in Africa.

The office in Gaberone is Saab's third facility in sub-Saharan Africa. Other locations are Kenya and South Africa.

The company said it is seeking to establish a presence elsewhere on the continent as it pursues its market area concept, which consolidates the markets in which the company is active.

"With the establishment of the market areas, Saab is expanding on all continents," said Jerker Ahlqvist, who will be lead the Saab office in Botswana. "With the growing economies in many countries in Africa there is a growing demand for defense and security products, and hence a demand for Saab products.

"Botswana has been selected as the third country to open an office in due to its transparent business environment and solid business opportunities for various products in the Saab portfolio."
