BAE Systems pursues Australian Defense contract

ADELAIDE, Australia, March 4 (UPI) -- BAE Systems in Australia is touting its test range management technology and experience in its bid for remediation of the country's Woomera Test Range.

The facility is used to support the Australian Defense Department's testing of aerospace platforms and weapon systems and equipment at it are nearing the end of their operational life.

"We are very proud of our long and distinguished history with the Woomera Test Range," said BAE Systems' Land & Integrated Systems Director Kim Scott. "Throughout that association, BAE Systems has developed a unique understanding of the facility's requirements and has evolved the skills and capabilities to provide the best possible solutions.

"As both prime systems integrator and range control and safety systems supplier, we are well-positioned to manage and mitigate system integration risks."

BAE said it has teamed in pursuit of the contract with Doppler radar specialist Weibel, which will exclusively supply the air surveillance radar and multiple object tracking radar for the facility.

BAE Systems did not provide additional details about the contract it is pursuing.
