The Bell 429 is a twin-engine aircraft with a cruise speed of 172.5 miles per hour, a range of 449 miles and a service ceiling of 20,000 feet.
New York police already has three Bell 412s that are used for law enforcement, search and rescue, and surveillance.
"We are honored to count the NYPD among our law enforcement customers and we give our sincere thanks for their ongoing trust in Bell helicopters," Danny Maldonado, Bell Helicopter's executive vice president of sales and marketing, said Friday in a statement. "We take great pride in continuing to provide New York's finest with the reliable aircraft their missions demand so they can serve and protect their community."
Bell said the 429 features an integrated glass cockpit, advanced drive system, infrared capability and a Wide Area Augmentation System for navigation.
