"Battlefield success starts with controlling the electromagnetic spectrum; but electronic counter-measures -- jammers -- can drown out sensitive GPS receivers on the same aircraft," said Bruce Mackie, MtronPTI senior applications engineer. "The LF9454 and LF9455 block jammer signals around the two primary GPS bands so satellite lock is maintained.
"Altitude-certified, smaller and higher power than alternatives, these GPS band reject filters keep counter-measure UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) on target, troops safe and the enemy quiet."
Mackie said that despite advances in inertial navigation, UAVs still need a good GPS position. Also, GPS signals at 1.2 and 1.5 GHz are in the middle of handheld radio and cell phone bands, typical jamming targets. Small and high powered, the LF9454 L1 band and LF9455 L2 band notch filters "provide a critical edge for our electronic forces."
