EDGEWOOD, Md., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Additional mobile X-ray cargo screening systems are being supplied to Canada by Smiths Detection under a follow-on order.
Smiths Detection said the order from the Canada Border Services Agency is worth more than $8 million and the screening systems will be installed this year at border-crossing sites.
The system being supplied is the HCVM Z60 NA, a high-energy scanner used to inspect trucks, other vehicles and containers for weapons, explosives and narcotics. The system can scan through 12 inches of steel and gives its operators high-resolution images of container contents.
Each scanner can inspect as many as 25 trucks per hour.
