WILMINGTON, Mass., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A desktop explosives and drugs detection system from Implant Sciences Corp. has been named "Best Explosives Detection Solution" by Government Security News.

Implant Sciences, a supplier of systems and sensors for the homeland security and defense markets, said its QS-B220 system won the award.

"We are honored that the ... judges for the GSN awards, in looking for the most outstanding innovators of explosives detection, sought fit to name our company as the winner," said Glenn D. Bolduc, Implant Sciences' president and chief executive officer.

The QS-B220 provides fast and accurate detection of trace amounts of a wide variety of military, commercial and homemade explosives, and drugs, the company said.

When detection occurs, it said, the QS-B220 provides audio and visual alarm indications, including substance identification, on a high-resolution color touch-screen.
