Rockwell sells Kaiser Optical Systems

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Rockwell Collins Inc. has announced it has completed the sale of its Kaiser Optical Systems subsidiary to Endress+Hauser, an instrumentation and process automation company.

A definitive agreement to sell Kaiser Optical to Endress+Hauser, a company with headquarters in Switzerland, was announced at the end of August. No details of the financial terms of the transaction have been released.

Kaiser Optical Systems, with operations in Michigan and France, produces spectrographic instrumentation and applied holographic technology. Products include Raman sensors and instrumentation, advanced holographic components for spectroscopy, telecommunications, astronomy and ultra-fast sciences, and components for aircraft display systems.

"With the acquisition of Kaiser Optical Systems, we are expanding our range in the field of advanced analytics for liquids, gases and solids," Klaus Endress, chief executive officer of Endress+Hauser, said when the definitive sales agreement was signed. "In addition, we are strengthening our optical technology and manufacturing competence."

Rockwell Collins said it was selling the company as part of an overall strategy to focus more on business opportunities in other areas.
