The request for proposals is being issued under the Land Command Support System Life Extension Project, a highly integrated tactical communication system that supports army-wide command and control.
"The Land Command Support System Life Extension Project will ensure the Canadian Armed Forces maintains its strong communication network to take on the new challenges of the 21st century," said Minister of National Defense Rob Nicholson. "This project is another step in helping to ensure a first-class, modern military that is well-equipped and ready to conduct its missions safely and effectively for many decades to come."
The government's The Industrial and Regional Benefits policy, in which a winning contractor creates economic benefits in Canada equal to 100 per cent of the contract value, applies to the procurement effort.
The announcement of the seeking of bids was made by the Ministry of Public Works and Government Services on behalf the Department of National Defense.
