PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Jacobs Engineering Group has received the Award of Excellence in Institutional Architecture for its design of the Mission Training Complex at a U.S. Army base.

The honor was given by the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

"We are honored and pleased to be recognized by the AIA Northern Virginia Chapter for our work at Fort Bragg (N.C.)," Jacobs Group Vice President Tom McDuffie said. "It is a privilege to have designed this award-winning facility in support of our client's goals to continue providing excellent training to members of the U.S. Army."

The Mission Training Complex, for which Jacobs provided full-service architecture and engineering, is 148,000 square feet in size and includes classrooms, outdoor tactical operations simulation areas and work space.

Jacobs provided full-service architecture and engineering, including construction administration, for the complex. The $28 million facility received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The complex is a highly functional facility that allows for flexibility and future expansion.
