WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Defense reports it is awarding six new contracts to three U.S. companies worth a combined total of more than $384 million.
The contracts cover aircraft production, system sustainment activities, technical support and "undefinitized" contract actions for Foreign Military Sales deals.
Two of the awards are going to Boeing, the Pentagon said. The first of those is for building seven MH-47G helicopters used by U.S. Special Operations Forces.
The U.S. Army award is a firm-fixed-price contract with a value of more than $78.2 million.
Boeing's second award is in support of the development, production and sustainment of the Mission Enhanced Little Bird helicopter, also used by Special Operation Forces.
The contract, worth more than $49.5 million, is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award. Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, Boeing will provide engineering, analysis, test and technical support services for the aircraft.
Work under the contract is expected to be completed by the end of September 2018.
The Pentagon said a $230 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is being given to Raytheon for operation and sustainment efforts of the X-Band radar in support of the Missile Defense Agency's Sensors Program.
The award is the exercise of an option to an existing contract.
The work, conducted in the United States and overseas, involves research, development, test, and evaluation and operation and maintenance and will be performed through individual task orders.
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. is receiving two awards for "undefinitized" contract options for FMS deals. The first is for France's MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial system urgent request program, while the second is for contractor logistics support for Italy's unmanned aerial systems acquired through an FMS deal.
The contract for work for France has a maximum value of about $49.8 million; the contract value for Italy is valued at more than $14.1 million.
