Accipiter part of CBP contract award

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Accipiter Radar Technologies Inc. is working with Global Technical Systems on a contract for detection systems for ultra-light aircraft.

The systems are for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection under a $100 million contract won by GTS of Virginia.

"This award will allow us to significantly expand our operations in Orchard Park, N.Y., and confirms Accipiter's leadership in development of cutting-edge technology for homeland security applications."

The contract has a two-year base period with eight one-year options. If all options are exercised, the value of the award for the GTS team is $100 million.

The contract calls for provision of high performance and sensor information networks designed to detect, track and characterize targets such as small vessels and low flying aircraft.

Accipiter Radar Technologies is a U.C.-Canadian company that develops, markets and operates high-performance radar and sensor information networks.
