Bell Helicopter, Avincis Group eye helicopter deal

LONDON, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Bell Helicopter has agreed to sell as many as 20 helicopters to the Avincis Group, a British provider of search-and-rescue and other support services.

The U.S. manufacturer's helicopters would be the Bell 429, Bell 412 and 412 EPI.

"We're delighted to be able to further develop our long-standing relationship with Bell Helicopter with the purchase of these aircraft, supported by their exceptional after-market service," said James Drummond, chief executive officer of Avincis Group. "These aircraft will help us to save more lives as we grow our global business."

The Avincis Group provides search-and-rescue, medical evacuation, coast and city surveillance, firefighting and energy support services around the world. Its overall aircraft fleet numbers more than 350 aircraft.

No date was given for a signing of a firm contract for the helicopters. The potential value of the contract was also not given.

The companies made the announcement at the Helitech International 2013 exhibition in London, which opened Tuesday.
