Military integrator orders Comtech amplifiers

MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- An array of solid-state, high-power amplifiers are being supplied by Comtech Xicom Technology Inc. to a military integrator under a $3.6 million contract.

The contract orders include C-band, X-band and Ku-band SSPA products and will be used by deployed military forces in highly mobile satellite communications systems for voice, data, video conferencing, Internet and high-resolution video connectivity.

The number of units to be provided and delivery schedules were not provided by Comtech Xicom Technology, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.

"Comtech Xicom products have proven robust in the field and our key customers continue to come back to us for follow-on procurements," said Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer of Comtech Telecommunications. "Our factory has ramped up to deliver these amplifiers quickly and we look forward to expanding our business with our military OEM [original equipment manufacturer] customers."

Comtech Xicom Technology manufactures tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers for military and commercial satellite uplink applications.
