EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., July 30 (UPI) -- An aerospace structural strength testing and demonstration site is being established in China by MTS Systems Corp. and Shanghai Jiaotong University.

MTS , a Minnesota supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, said the agreement with the university was finalized Monday.

"We look forward to building on our long-standing relationship with Shanghai Jiaotong University," MTS President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Graves said. 'Together, we will to continue to pioneer new aerospace technology and meet our customers' challenges, in China and around the world."

MTS said its collaboration with the university goes back about 30 years. The university's School of Aeronautics features numerous MTS technologies, including multiple Landmark testing systems, an 896 channel FlexDAC Data Acquisition System, a FlexTest 200 digital controller and 1000kN servohydraulic load frame.

The two organizations established the university's Ship Institute for material fracture and fatigue testing in 2009.

"We firmly believe that the establishment of this demonstration center will take Shanghai Jiaotong University's research capabilities to new heights," said Wang Hai, the associate dean and professor at the university's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. "It will also allow more industry experts, academics, and colleagues access to MTS' high-quality products."
