FRANKLIN, Tenn., July 15 (UPI) -- Perimeter security design and construction services for U.S. Department of Defense installations will be conducted by FutureNet Security Solutions LLC.
The contract to FutureNet, formerly known as Smith & Wesson Security Solutions, was awarded by the U.S. Army and Engineering Support Center, Huntsville, Ala., and is worth $230 million.
"We view this contract as the culmination of a two-year strategic plan to establish Smith & Wesson Security Solutions as a prime contractor to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, whose mission we regularly support," said Wesley Foss, president of Smith & Wesson Security Solutions. "Coupled with our recent award earlier this year in January of a $315 million worldwide maintenance and service contract, this contract award integrates very well within our ongoing global expansion."
Under the five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity Access Control Point Design-Build contract, the company will perform construction, design, repair, renovation, conversion, procurement, installation and maintenance services under task orders. It has already performed similar work at more than 125 U.S. military installations and for 20 separate U.S. government agencies.
