EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 9 (UPI) -- A software program providing law enforcement personnel on patrol with real-time crime data has been launched by NC4, a situational readiness solutions company.

The product, named Street Smart 2.0, extends Microsoft SharePoint 2013 to become a daily use, crime-fighting application, allowing visualization of data points on maps, and aggregating and sharing relevant information through situation-based bulletins and secure blogs.

NC4 said the visual tools, including mapping, enable officers to see in real-time, a breakdown of crimes and their locations as they are happening via a live operational map

The mapping technology comes from Esri, a geographic information systems company.

"We are excited about the new release of NC4 Street Smart 2.0 and believe it will propel crime-fighting even further," NC4 quoted Jane Castor, chief of the Tampa Police Department, as saying. "TPD has seen a significant drop in crime since our deployment of NC4 Street Smart and we look forward to the additional capabilities."

Additional details on the product were not immediately available.
