LINKOPING, Sweden, July 8 (UPI) -- Electronic security systems at 16 priority sites of the Australian Department of Defense are being supplied and installed by Saab, the Swedish defense company.

The award for the work was issued to Saab by Watpac Construction Pty Ltd., which was commissioned for base enhancement projects.

"Saab is a leading provider of security systems and our solutions for managing security in complex locations and situations are well proven," said Gunilla Fransson, head of Saab's Security and Defense Solutions business area. "We have already completed security management contracts in prisons and Australian government facilities."

Added Dean Rosenfield, managing director, Saab Systems in Australia: "We have proven our readiness and reliability to meet the most stringent security requirements and are looking forward to working with Watpac to meet Defense's base protection needs."

The systems will be delivered this year and in 2014, Saab said.
