SSAI, BAE win Army aviation support contract

ARLINGTON, Va., June 3 (UPI) -- U.S. Army aircraft modifications are to be supported by Support Systems Associates Inc. and its major sub-contractor, BAE Systems.

The multiple-award Logistics Support Facilities Management Activity contract, an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, has a five-year period of performance and carries a ceiling value of as much as $1.5 billion.

"We are committed to customer satisfaction and look forward to working with the U.S. Army, LSFMA, BAE Systems and all of our team mates, current and future, to ensure a successful program," said Michael Reynolds, SSAI vice president of Business Development. "SSAI is excited to establish a presence in Huntsville, Ala., supporting the Redstone Arsenal."

SSAI said it is establishing relationships with other Huntsville sub-contractors to perform task orders for the contract.

The contract covers a range of services across aviation platforms supported by the Program Executive Office Aviation, Army Materiel Command/Aviation and Missile Command. These include engineering development of aircraft modifications, application of modifications to the aircraft fleet and logistics support of systems and aircraft.

"BAE Systems has shown our commitment to this contract by the investments we made last year in Albertville and Huntsville to enhance performance," said Floyd McConnell, vice president of Integrated Aviation Solutions at BAE Systems. "We look forward to partnering with SSAI to support the U.S. Army's aviation mission, which will increase employment in the local communities."
