P&W Canada, Airbus Military mark milestone

MADRID, May 28 (UPI) -- Pratt and Whitney Canada has delivered the 250th PW127G engine to Airbus Military of Spain for use on C295 multi-role aircraft.

"Airbus Military is very proud to celebrate this important milestone in our partnership with Pratt and Whitney Canada," said Antonio R. Barberan, senior vice president for Airbus Military.

"Every single C295 that has been sold has engines that were assembled here in Quebec (Canada). This investment ensures highly skilled jobs in Canada but also brings the product of Canadian skills and expertise to the rest of the world."

Airbus Military's aircraft -- used for transport, search-and-rescue and maritime patrol missions is a candidate for Canada's ongoing fixed-wing search-and-rescue aircraft program. It is a twin-engine turboprop with a maximum speed of 385 miles per hour and a range of 720-2,600 nautical miles depending on payload weight.

A total of 121 of the aircraft, equipped with PW engines, are in operation around the world.

Pratt and Whitney Canada and Airbus military marked the engine delivery milestone with a special ceremony at Pratt and Whitney Canada's Longueuil plant in Montreal.
