ISTANBUL, Turkey, May 8 (UPI) -- The Turkish National Police are receiving two Sikorsky Aircraft VIP S-92 helicopters for service to the Turkish Prime Minister's Office.
The aircraft will support the ministry's Head of State function, which currently has one S-92 helicopter operated by the TNP.
The value of the contract wasn't disclosed but Sikorsky said the helicopters are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
The S-92 is a twin-engine, medium-lift aircraft for the civilian and military market. It has a cruise speed of 174 miles per hour, a range of 530 nautical miles and a service ceiling of 14,000 feet.
Nine countries use the S-92 platform for transporting heads of state and Sikorsky is offering it to the United States for White House use.
"In addition to serving the armed forces of Turkey with the most advanced and capable Black Hawk helicopters, Sikorsky extends its commercial presence in Turkey through the S-92 helicopter, providing the highest levels of safety, reliability and performance to the highest levels of the Turkish government," said Anand Stanley, Sikorsky's vice president for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
"With such a strong contingent of our products flying in the region, it is clear that Turkey is an important and strategic partner of Sikorsky Aircraft."
