FAIRFAX, Va., April 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has contacted for services that will support conducting security clearance background investigations.

The prime one-year award for OPM's Applications System Division was given to Salient Federal Solutions Inc. under OPM's Blanket Purchase Agreement. Its monetary value wasn't disclosed.

Salient said that under the award, it will design, develop, deploy, secure, maintain and support databases and critical applications to ensure that OPM's Federal Investigative Services continues to meet agency timeliness goals for investigating government employees and contractors.

Under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, OPM is responsible completing 90 percent of background investigations within 40 days.

"We look forward to providing improved database performance and capacity, planning for future expansion requirements, and implementation of security measures to safeguard all clearance processing related databases," says Bill Parker, chief operating officer of Salient. "We take pride in our longstanding partnership with OPM and providing them with the technology expertise to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their current projects and processes."
