Maritime construction and engineering equipment of the British navy will be supplied and maintained by Babcock International under a $16.5 million award.
The contract from the Ministry of Defense covers core management services to procure and manage the equipment for ships. Included are lifting and handling gear, mooring and anchoring equipment, refuel-at-sea and more.
"Securing ongoing purchase, manufacture, repair and technical services activity for maritime constructive equipment is vital for continued support to operations," said Paul Vosper, team leader for Maritime Equipment Systems, which is within the Defense Ministry's Defense, Equipment and Support organization.
"This contract will enable DE&S to develop strategic relationships with Babcock and to sustain the delivery of essential mission critical services to the required quality and performance while achieving demonstrable value-for-money for the taxpayer."
Included in the contract is a provision for Babcock providing engineering support, technical assistance and post-design service activities on a task approval basis.
