Beechcraft plane gets surveillance gear

ARLINGTON, Va., March 15 (UPI) -- A Beechcraft King Air 350ER outfitted for use in maritime patrol has been delivered to Beechcraft's exclusive distributor by electronics company Selex ES.

The aircraft was fitted out by Selex ES with its airborne tactical observation and surveillance system, which had undergone more than 80 hours of flight testing aboard the aircraft.

The identity of the customer who ordered the aircraft wasn't disclosed. Corporate Aircraft of Switzerland, Beechcraft's distributor, acted as prime contractor for the deal.

Selex ES said that, under the project, it was responsible for the design and integration of a complete surveillance solution for the plane. It included an ATOS with an integrated retractable electro-optical system and ventral radome.

Selex's ATOS with its T200 Gabbiano radar, provides 360-degree coverage.

Selex ES is part of Italy's Finmeccanica group and has headquarters in the United States.
