"The acquisition of the rights to Soft Armor is a complement to our wide product portfolio within advanced camouflage," said Anders Wiman, managing director of Saab Barracuda. "We are now expanding our investment in this type of product in both military and civil segments.

"With this transaction, Barracuda is taking the first step in strategically widening its product portfolio beyond the technical field of signature management."

Saab Barracuda is part of Saab's Dynamics business area.

Soft Armor technology uses a spherical ceramic material for protection against projectiles and shrapnel. Saab said it is "self-healing" and has the capability to withstand multiple hits in the same area.

It is suitable for protection of personnel as well as equipment.

"The acquisition of the rights to Soft Armor is a complement to our wide product portfolio within advanced camouflage. We are now expanding our investment in this type of product in both military and civil segments," said Wiman.
