Harris said the study will analyze the existing space and ground assets of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program and develop plans to demonstrate they can evolve into the Weather Satellite Follow-on. Items to be considered include information assurance, net-centric data strategies, scalability and affordability.
Potential issues of compatibility and transition, cutover of operations, sustainment impacts, operational disruption during a change-over and security implications will also be examined.
