MELBOURNE, Fla., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Harris Corp., a U.S. communications company, has been named a recipient of Northrop Grumman's Information Systems Supplier Excellence Award.

The award recognizes suppliers whose technical innovation, products and services contribute significantly to the success of Northrop Grumman and its customers.

Harris, one of 26 award recipients, said the recognition was for its work on the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System program in which Harris incorporated its Highband Networking Radio for the IBCS' Integrated Fire Control Network.

"This award from Northrop Grumman is a testament to the importance of predictable and excellent execution, strong customer relationships and employee talent and dedication," said Bill Gattle, vice president, Aerospace Systems, Harris Government Communications Systems.

"A majority of our IBCS team is co-located with our customer (in Huntsville, Ala.), ensuring we truly understand their mission and challenges, and then deliver full Harris value."

To be nominated for the award, a Northrop supplier must meet high standards for schedule management, performance and responsiveness, technical performance and financial performance.
