Airborne Systems, a subsidiary of HDT Global, said the United Arab Emirates ordered three different Guided Precision Aerial Delivery Systems for air dropping cargo payloads weighing 700-10,000 pounds.
"Airborne Systems' GPADS will enable high-altitude, accurate resupply of UAE distributed operations with reduced risk to air crews," said JC Berland, executive vice president of Airborne's Technology and Strategy division.
"Airborne Systems will supply the DragonFly, FireFly and one-time use FlyClops for use with C130J and C17 aircrafts. We are proud to supply the UAE air force with this incredible force resupply capability."
The GPADS consists of high performance, lightweight ram-air canopies and guidance units with autonomous navigation software which, when combined with the company's jTrax mission planning software, enables precision payload delivery.
Airborne Systems said that depending on weather conditions, the GPADS can be dropped from the aircraft that is more than 12 miles from the landing area.
