MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Rapid prototyping and technology insertion support for C4ISR is being provided to the U.S. Army by Science Applications International Corp.

The command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support is specifically being provided to the Army's Communications-Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center and its Command, Power and Integration Directorate.

The contract is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle. It has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options. The total value is $263 million if all options are exercised.

SAIC is one of two companies competing for task orders.

Under the award, SAIC is eligible to provide CERDEC with support required to perform a variety of tri-service C4ISR prototype systems integration programs. Included support is comprised of prototyping, integrating, testing and fielding services.

"We look forward to expanding our presence at Aberdeen Providing Ground (Md.) while supporting the Army's efforts to innovate and implement solutions in specific core competencies of mission command capabilities, mission command computing platforms, power and energy, and C4ISR platform prototyping and integration," said Joe Craver, president of SAIC's Health, Energy and Civil Solutions Group.
