Air Force exercises 6th engine care option

RESTON, Va., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has given Rolls-Royce a $97.8 million contract for its MissionCare sustainment services program for C-130J aircraft.

MissionCare covers sustainment for the aircraft's Rolls-Royce AE 2100 engines, nacelles and propellers on the Air Force's C-130Js and includes logistics and program management support, engineering services, spares and technical data support.

Rolls-Royce said the contract received is for one year.

"We are proud that the U.S. Air Force has again chosen Rolls-Royce to deliver our innovative and cost-effective MissionCare support," said Paul Craig, president of Rolls-Royce's Defense Customer Services.

"Rolls-Royce has worked hard to develop service support that aligns our efforts with customer requirements for mission readiness."

Rolls-Royce said the award is the exercised of the sixth option of an earlier contract, during which the company has maintained more than 90 percent parts and fleet availability.

In addition to its MissionCare program, Rolls-Royce supports the C-130J engine fleet through its new Defense Operations Center in Indianapolis, which provides engineering for a variety of U.S. military aircraft using company engines.
