Sagem establishes India subsidiary

PARIS, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- French electronics company Sagem has created a subsidiary in India to provide maintenance and service support to local clients.

The wholly owned subsidiary is Sagem Services India Pvt. Ltd., with headquarters in New Delhi.

"The creation of Sagem Services India marks a major step forward in Sagem's development in this country," Sagem said. "Working closely with its customers, Sagem will be able to enhance its role in the development of India's aerospace industry and form new partnerships in all of its business sectors."

Sagem is part of the Safran group. It is a contributor to several major Indian civil and military aircraft programs, working with local companies for the supply of avionics and navigation systems. It makes the flight control system for the ALH Dhruv helicopter, for example.

The company said the subsidiary would draw on the resources of Safran, which has more than 1,000 employees in India.
