Medical logistics work for AAR Defense

WOOD DALE, Ill., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A medical logistics support contract has been awarded to AAR Defense Systems and Logistics by the U.S. Army.

The Illinois company said the contract is the first it has received from the military for management of medical supplies. The work will be performed for the U.S. Army Medical Material Center -- Southwest Asia, at Camp As Sayliya, Qatar.

The center provides support to the U.S. Central Command in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The contract has a single base year of performance with two renewal options. The one-year agreement includes two renewal options.

"We appreciate the confidence the U.S. Army has in AAR Defense Systems and Logistics to run this important program in support of the warfighter," said John Holmes, Aviation Services Group vice president, Inventory, Management and Distribution.

"We thank our personnel on the ground for being responsive and for maintaining great relationships with our customers."
