FORT WAYNE, Ind., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- A U.S. Foreign Military Sales contract for communications equipment has been given to ITT Exelis by the U.S. Communications-Electronics Command.

Under the $25 million award, the company will provide an unidentified country with its International Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System VHF Base Stations and Vehicular Systems.

The system, which gives tactical units secure VHF voice and data communications, will be delivered in in single radio and dual radio configurations.

ITT Exelis' handheld Spearhead VHF radios are also included under the order, as well as spares, installation services and field service support.

Spearhead radios, with integrated GPS, provide troops with secure, frequency-hopping voice and packet data communications .

"This order builds on the customer's substantial Exelis-installed radio product base in a very challenging security environment," said Ken Harrison, vice president of the International Night Vision and Tactical Communications Systems business area. "We will continue to work hard to fulfill U.S. and allied communications requirements with our tactical radio products."

The number of systems to be delivered and their delivery schedule were not disclosed.
