SINGAPORE, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Maintenance and modernization of three C-130 Hercules of the Royal Air Force of Oman will be conducted by ST Aerospace of Singapore.

The contract -- its value was not disclosed -- covers major servicing of the aircraft, repair and overhaul of aircraft components and modernization of cockpits.

Work on the first C-130 is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2013 and be completed in early of 2014.

"We selected ST Aerospace because it is a one stop center for the C130 Hercules aircraft and has extensive capabilities on this aircraft platform," said Air Vice Marshal Matar Ali al-Obaidani, commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman.

"Its ability to undertake depot level maintenance and cockpit modernization simultaneously is especially advantageous to us as it minimizes downtime and improves aircraft availability of our fleet."

ST Aerospace is an approved Lockheed Martin Hercules service center with comprehensive capabilities in airframe structural repair and design and modification, as well as component and engine repair and overhaul.
