The software for the AGS' Communications Ground Control System will help manage communications -- satellite and radio -- between Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles and an operating base in Italy.
GD Canada said the under the $32 million deal with Northrop Grumman it will also will also deliver computer workstations and a Voice over Internet Protocol intercom systems for communications between the operating base and mobile command centers and engineering support for the integration of its software and systems at Northrop Grumman's facilities in the United States and at the base in Italy.

The NATO AGS program, which is led by Northrop Grumman, is a procurement initiative to establish an airborne ground surveillance system.
