LINKOPING, Sweden, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Saab of Sweden has received a $15.3 million order from AgustaWestland Ltd. for helicopter self-protection and electronic intelligence systems.

The products, which will be produced at a Saab facility in South Africa as well as at a plant in Sweden, will be combined so that the electronic surveillance payload is integrated with the integrated defensive aids suite for enhanced direction finding and emitter location.

"This contract strengthens our relationship as a key supplier to AgustaWestland and shows our ability to design and develop highly competitive electronic warfare self-protection and electronic intelligence systems," said Micael Johansson, head of Saab's Electronic Defense Systems business area.

"That AgustaWestland has selected us for the supply of this highly integrated self-protection and electronic intelligence system is a great proof of its capability."

Saab said deliveries under the contract will begin this year and continue through 2015.
